On the 100th anniversary of the birth of Yuri Markovich Nagibin (1920-1994), his "Diary" is published. It was prepared for printing by the author himself, who decided to summarize his own life. What the characters in the "Diary" will say... about him was not that important to Nagibin: he dared to write about many living people - Konchalovsky, Yevtushenko, Akhmadulina - but he was no longer concerned about anyone's opinions. Because the era, of which he was a part, had ended. Talented in everything - in prose, screenplays, memoirs - Nagibin is talented in every diary entry, no matter how grim their themes and tones.
This is a bloody book, but hardly the brightest one in Nagibin's literary biography, in his fifty-year triumphant career; now it shines almost brighter than the others.
