Landscape is the most popular genre of painting: it confidently occupies the top spots in the sales rankings of posters in the art section, and the most famous and beloved Russian painters (according to surveys) became landscape painters Ivan Aivazovsky... and Ivan Shishkin. This genre is extremely diverse: landscapes depict both real natural sights and imaginary ones, natural environments (mountains, forests, rivers) and those altered by man (architectural ensembles, buildings, parks).
The album features over 30 masters of Russian landscape. In addition to famous paintings - integral symbols of domestic painting, created by brilliant figures of landscape - Aivazovsky, Savrasov, Shishkin, Levitan, it includes works by artists who worked side by side with these masters. The fame of outstanding contemporaries has somewhat overshadowed their art, but our publication provides an opportunity to discover the creativity of Krzhizhanovsky, Endogurov, Gorbatov, and other undeservedly forgotten names, as well as getting acquainted with new paintings.
