The name of Ivan Bunin, the first Russian laureate of the Nobel Prize, poet and prose writer, has never become a symbol of a literary school or movement. However, remaining apart from the fashionable literary trends of the era and remaining true to the traditions of the Silver Age, Bunin became a classic even during his lifetime. According to A. Tvardovsky, his poetry is characterized by a "constant striving to find in the world the combination of the beautiful and the eternal... to dissolve in the cycle of nature, in the endless succession of ages." Gazing at the pictures of nature, turning to the depths of memory and history, to the mysteries of the human soul, the poet enriched Russian poetry with new intonations and images, capturing in his work the strange "flux of time" and the elusive beauty of the world, which, like the fleeting reflection of a lightning bolt, sometimes illuminates our lives with a mysterious light.
The foundation of this collection consists of poems written in different years of life and included by the author in the collected works of 1934-1935.
