This is the first time a commented translation of Flos Duellatorum is published in Russian - one of the earliest treatises on the martial arts of medieval Europe. The manuscript is preceded by an essay about its author, the fencing... master Fiore dei Liberi, who lived in the late 14th century, his fate and era, armament, and methods of preparing warriors. Fiore not only described the techniques known to him but also developed a methodology and training scheme for the art of combat - from unarmed struggle to mounted duels. His work allows not only to form an idea of how warriors acted in the Middle Ages but also to use the book as a guide for practicing historical fencing and reconstructing European martial arts.
