She was found by Josef Mengele, also known as the "Angel of Death." According to eyewitness accounts, he personally shoved the girl into a truck heading to the crematorium. On October 17, 1944, Eva's life was cut short.After the publication of the diary, Eva's mother, Agnes Zholt, committed suicide.
