Новый баланс сил. Россия в поисках внешнеполитического равновесия

After 2014, Russia became noticeably more active in foreign policy, but a clear strategy is still not visible. During the USSR, we competed with the USA for influence around the world, and after 1991, we tried to integrate into the West for some time. Do we need to become a superpower again? How to balance internal capabilities and activity beyond the country's borders? How to build relationships with neighboring countries, including China? Do we have points of contact with the USA and Western Europe? The new book by Russian internationalist Dmitry Trenin is an invitation to a broad discussion on the most important issues of Russia's foreign policy. The author examines the foundations on which Russia's relations with other states are built—such as sovereignty, national interest, international law, and the balance of power. He provides an overview of Moscow's foreign policy under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, and Vladimir Putin. Analyzing the successes, failures, and mistakes of the recent past, the author offers reflections on how Russia can construct an independent and balanced foreign policy strategy in a rapidly changing world.
