Alla Belyak, translator About the author: Anne Berest is a French writer, actress, and screenwriter. She was born in 1979 in Paris. Her first novel, "Daughter of Her Father," was published in 2010, and that same year, the book was nominated for the Prix Goncourt. Berest wrote scripts for Audrey Diwan's film "The Event" (2021), based on the novel by Annie Ernaux, and for the Netflix series "Innocent Lie." Additionally, she acted in two films: "DNA" (2020) — with Louis Garrel and Fanny Ardent, and "The Edges of Love" (2022) — with Virginie Efira and Chiara Mastroianni. Together with her sister Claire, Anne wrote a literary biography of her great-grandmother Gabrielle Buffay-Picabia — an art historian, writer, Resistance participant, and the first wife of Dadaist artist Francis Picabia. Berest has also created several theatrical plays, including "Pedigree," inspired by the biography of Patrick Modiano, for the l’Atelier theater. "Postcard" is currently Anne's most famous novel; it has been translated into English and has won numerous literary awards, including the first American version of the Goncourt prize in history.
