The emperors of the Qing dynasty were the last monarchs in Chinese history. During their reign, the Celestial Empire reached the peak of its power, which influenced the future fate of both the country and the monarchy itself.
However, the stronger the state became, the weaker the position of the ruling dynasty, whose interests were directed towards European powers. Increased taxes, widespread corruption, natural disasters leading to
poor harvests, abuse of power by the ruling elites, and the significant expansion of the West – all of this led to popular uprisings. In 1911, a revolution began, marking the end of the monarchy and the establishment of a Republic that lasted until
1949.
Which emperor of the dynasty ascended the throne at the age of five? What is the connection between the Qing dynasty and the Forbidden City? Who forged his father's will to ascend to the throne? When did the literary inquisition appear in China? What was the reason for the creation of the "White Lotus"? Why did the Opium Wars last for several decades? What caused the Xinhai Revolution and what were its results?
The Qing is the last and most controversial dynasty, whose rises and falls served as a catalyst for the structure of modern China.
