«Confessions» is the general title of 13 autobiographical works by Augustine of Hippo, written around 397-398 AD, which tell of his life and conversion to Christianity.
This first detailed autobiography in European literature contains invaluable information about the Christianization of the late antique world during its decline, about the search for God within oneself and outside oneself.
