Graveyard Mud. A Narrative in Ten Interludes

All the characters in the novel “Graveyard Mud” are dead, but are they at rest? The afterlife in no way diminished their eager interest in news, fresh gossip, and rumors from the world of the living. Lying underground, they speak ill of others, plot, lie, ingratiate themselves, and settle scores perhaps even more passionately than they did on earth. However, they can do nothing about it now — all they can do is talk, and thus the entire novel is written as a polylogue. A book-theater, “Graveyard Mud” by the classic of Irish literature Martin O'Cone is a true example of ruthless comedy, a museum of human types and at the same time a poignant reflection on the transience and absurdity of human bustle.
