Gone with the Wind

The novel by Margaret Mitchell was published in 1936 and had phenomenal success among readers. In 1939,... a film of the same name (starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable) was released, which won eight Academy Awards and became one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history. Despite polar opinions from literary critics, the novel was awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, it was compared to "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy, and Margaret Mitchell was placed alongside the great classics of world literature. The book has gone through more than 70 editions just in the United States, has been translated into dozens of languages and remains consistently popular and beloved by readers around the world to this day.
