A Thousand Years Before Tanya Grotter. The Saga of the School of Chieftains

Dmitry Emets returns with a prequel to the legendary Tanya Grotter!

For many centuries, the magical school of Tibidokhs has stood on the glorious island of Buyan, washed by the waves of the raging ocean. But a thousand years ago, neither the school nor the familiar Buyan existed. There roamed ancient creatures — dangerous, capricious, and completely unpredictable beings. There were tribes that knew no peace. And it was there that they sent their offspring to learn the Varangian craft — to the harsh School of Chieftains.

Kuzya and Rurik — two friends and two future rulers — knew from childhood that one day they would lead their peoples. But fate had other plans: the tribes united, and now only one will become the chieftain. To prove their right to power, the young Varangians must undergo a trial worthy of a saga — to kidnap the Emperor's only daughter.

Ahead of them lies a path full of dangers and mysteries. They will meet friends (not always welcome), enemies (not always obvious), and many-MANY monsters, both beautiful and terrible. Such an adventure is worth any risk!
