The Secret Face

Young icon painter Danilka arrives in a mining village in search of his missing brother Stepan, whose name seems to have been erased: no one remembers him.
Almost a century ago, a Mansi girl was born in these places, able to hear the voices of the mountains. But the old shaman, her grandfather, magically sews the girl's mouth shut: according to the traditions of their people, women are forbidden to speak with spirits.
Two stories, separated by time, gradually converge, revealing a connection between the loss of voice, repressed rage, and violence against memory. Danilka confronts his own dark side and ancient forces that do not forgive intrusion.
