Mahabharata: Inversion of Plots

In continuation of his large-scale research, begun with the book «Mahabharata: Revision of Meanings», Pyotr Losev again turns to
the text of the great ancient Indian epic, offering an unexpected interpretation.
«Mahabharata: Inversion of Plots» — is not a retelling or a commentary, but an attempt to read «in depth». By freeing the monument from later
layers of mythologization, the author reconstructs its historical core — a chronicle of political struggle, transformed by the ideologists of the victorious priesthood into a parable about dharma, duty, and fate. Losev builds the internal logic of the poem, where gods and heroes become figures in a chess game between reformers and guardians of tradition: behind the legends of the Pandavas and Kauravas, the outlines of court intrigues emerge, and behind the heroism — traces of crimes and omissions.
In this bold interpretation, the «Mahabharata» appears not as a collection of religious myths, but as an encrypted chronicle of the change of eras and worldviews. The book invites readers to see in the «great tale of the descendants of Bharata» a human story — with its lies, fears, violence, and desperate thirst for justification.
