Haiku. Poetry and Painting

An amazing book in which either the poems illustrate the paintings or the paintings — the poems. The haiku themselves seem like paintings, but, as the classics said, one should not describe but name things in simple words and do it as if naming them for the first time. This is true in haiku, and that is what attracts readers.

Thanks to the poetry of three-line verses «haiku», a special pictorial genre «haiga» has emerged, in which a calligraphically executed poem is complemented by a pictorial image, which does not so much illustrate the poem as it expands and complements its meaning. Haiku contains an entire world; its space is infinite, although it is always a brief moment of the present — and nothing more.
