The Cage for the Simpleton

On the tennis court, the body of Frank Dorrance is found, and the circumstances of the crime seem nearly inexplicable. Before that, the story builds on the tension between Brenda White, her fiancé, and another man who is also emotionally connected to her. An additional sharpness is created by a financial condition related to a possible wedding. After the murder, Brenda and Hugh Rowland become suspects, and the investigation focuses not only on motives but also on the main question: how was the crime committed if the crime scene seemingly excludes the presence of an outsider.
