Doctor Faustus and Other Legends of the Middle Ages Retold for Children

The book collects the most famous medieval legends: the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, who saved the town from a plague of rats, the tale of Lohengrin – the Swan Knight, who appears where protection is needed for the weak and wronged, the legend of the river fairy Lorelei and her enchanting song. And of course, the legend of Doctor Faustus – the sorcerer and magician. The plots of these tales remain a source of inspiration for writers and artists, composers and filmmakers to this day. The names of their heroes have long become household names. The extraordinarily expressive illustrations for the legends were created by the artist Nika Goltz – a recognized classic of illustration.
