Penetrating Strike (Operation Frantic Joe) - a historical American-Ukrainian military-romantic novel based on real events.
In 1944, a secret American airbase was created in Poltava, Ukraine, to destroy the German aviation hidden in the east. Without this, it was impossible to open the Second Front. From April 1944 to 1945, there were 1200 American aviation technicians in Poltava, and every week a hundred B-17 "Flying Fortress" flew in from Britain, which meant another 1300 young American pilots. The book tells about American-Ukrainian combat operations and the love affairs of American pilots with Ukrainian women. Today, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in Poltava.
