What should a person do if the best time of their life coincides with the time of the collapse of all illusions in society? This is what Nela Gerbold thinks about in the 2020s, a smart, educated woman who grew up in the village of Sokol, a nest of Moscow intelligentsia. She suddenly realizes that her life is falling apart not only due to personal circumstances, as she once believed. Exactly one hundred years ago, in the midst of the NEP, engineer Leonid Gerbold, Nela's great-grandfather, built a house in Sokol in hopes of a happy future, but the misanthropic "Great Break" destroyed his happiness. And now, a century later, Nela Gerbold stands on the threshold of a new turning point in time.
