When the young Masha Morozova rents a room in the Moscow settlement of Sokol, she does not realize how much her life will change after this, what significant events will happen in it. Masha's lively mind allows her to understand that her youth coincides with a time of general uncertainty and loss of bearings. But how she should live in such a time, she cannot comprehend. Communication with the landlady, her namesake Vera Morozova, suddenly illuminates for Masha the incomprehensible space of life. Perhaps it's because Vera's youth coincided with a similar time - the end of the "thaw" of the 60s. Or maybe for more subtle reasons, hidden deep in the distant past.
