The Tale of Bygone Years

The chronicle answers the main question: "Where did the Russian land come from?" Created in the early 12th century, it became the starting point of Russian historiography. But it remains a mystery: neither the exact date of writing, nor the author, nor even its original title is reliably known.

Before the reader is not a single plot, but a mosaic of events, a living tale of the birth of the Russian state. The calling of the Varangians, the first princes, civil wars, raids by nomads, the establishment of power and faith… Here, biblical legends intertwine with folk tales, and real events with almost mythical stories.
