The Fundamentals of Mathematics in the Light of Anthroposophy
How to bridge the gap between the being of mathematics and the being of man? Which parts of arithmetic correspond to the physical, soul, and spiritual in a person? Where in a person to look for numbers? How and when...
were new types of numbers discovered? How is this related to the development of individuals? How do calculations affect the human organism? What happens in a person when they perform certain actions, for example, solving an equation? These questions were posed by the author of the book, Ernst Bindel, while working as a teacher at a Waldorf school. Answers were found based on Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophical teachings about man and the spiritual world. A connection was established between mathematical concepts and operations on one side and various aspects of a person's soul-spiritual activity on the other. All of this is presented by the author in this book, illustrating it with examples from the history of science, as well as considering specific mathematical problems. The book is addressed to a wide audience: educators, parents, math enthusiasts, and those who feel the need for self-education and wish to overcome the mistakes and shortcomings of school learning.
