In the provincial Tikhodonsk, the downtrodden unemployed Sergey Lapin is leading a miserable existence. Circumstances place him at the center of a clash between powerful financial and criminal groups, and suddenly, through a mental blockade, the consciousness of special agent Max Kardanov from the most powerful and absolutely unknown intelligence agency of the former USSR begins to break through. His name is linked to the diamonds worth three billion dollars that disappeared during the coup in 1991.
