Kalichina-Malechina

Evgenia Nekrasova is a writer, one of the founders of the School of Literary Practices, and a laureate of the 'Lyceum', 'Wanderer/NOS', and O. Henry Prize. Plays have been staged based on her novella 'Unhappy Moscow', novel 'Kalichina-Malechina', and story 'Kumutkan' in Russian theaters. A girl named Katya lives with her parents on the eleventh floor of an ordinary panel building in a small city. The world around Katya does not want her: the 'not fully grown' tease her, while the 'grown-ups' have no strength or time for her. And Katya finds a way out for herself. But then Kikimora, who lives behind the stove in the kitchen, intervenes. Together they embark on a dangerous journey and inadvertently surpass in cruelty those who have harmed them. The novel 'Kalichina-Malechina' has been translated into Italian and Latvian and has been shortlisted for the 'NOS', 'National Bestseller', and 'Big Book' awards.
