Borodino. Poems

Mikhail Lermontov (1814 — 1841) is a classic of world literature, one of the best poets and writers of the 19th century. His life was short, but his bright talent developed surprisingly early. He was gifted with remarkable musicality — he played the violin, the piano, sang, and composed music to his own poems.

Lermontov's creative legacy includes poetry, prose, and drama: realistic, romantic, and even satirical works. Inspired by the memories of his relative — a veteran of the Patriotic War of 1812, Mikhail Lermontov wrote his famous poem glorifying the heroism of the Battle of Borodino – "Borodino".
