The Curse of the Zyong Sisters

In the California district of Little Saigon, where the Vietnamese diaspora has lived for many years, everyone knows that a curse hangs over the Zyong family: women in their lineage give birth only to daughters, and each daughter bears the burden of maternal sins. Mai Nguyen from the Zyong family has not spoken to her sisters for many years, and her three daughters do not want to know their mother. When Mai Nguyen visits a fortune teller to find out how to break the family curse, she unexpectedly tells her that this year their family is expecting a funeral, a wedding, and the birth of a son. The subsequent events turn the family's life upside down and help the women of the Zyong family find their way home and to each other.
