Peter Mayle moved to this paradise in the south of France from England with his wife; the couple bought a farmhouse and began a completely new life. The first year in Provence was so rich in impressions that it inspired Peter Mayle to create a work that is still considered the best travel book about France. «A Year in Provence» brought the author recognition from the French Republic, which made Peter Mayle a knight of the Order of the Legion of Honor. This book was followed by a whole series of other books about Provence, gathered in this edition («Provence Forever», «Another Year in Provence», «My Twenty-Five Years in Provence»). The book also contains an insert with color photographs, including photos from the author's archive.
