Dishonored Lady

The reputation of Lady Candy Denshire is ruined. Her ex-husband, a libertine and scoundrel, disgraced her, deceitfully obtained a divorce through the courts, and took their son away from her. Society does not accept Candy and happily discusses behind her back the outrageous rumors about the unimaginable depravity of the young woman. One day at a ball, Candy meets another outcast.
Lord Lucas Foxton bravely fought in the Napoleonic Wars, but was wounded and taken prisoner. After escaping from captivity, he broke his word and now considers himself disgraced as well. Feeling sympathy for Candy's story, Lucas offers her help in restoring the good name of the lady.
