At the housewarming party, a friend gifts Ilya and Tomochka a beautiful antique doll named Gabriela, claiming it is a talisman. Soon Ilya leaves for a business trip, and Tomochka stays with his mother Irina, who is recovering from a stroke. Irina is horrified by the doll, calling it a demon, but the next day inexplicably becomes attached to it. Irina’s condition miraculously improves: she starts walking and then regains control of her paralyzed hand. At the same time, Tomochka's health sharply deteriorates; she suffers from weakness, memory lapses, and nightmares. She realizes that Irina has become a different person, and the doll is draining the life out of her...
