Sergey Merkulev is the author of eleven poetry collections. He began writing poetry in the seventies, with his first magazine publications appearing ten years later, and his books started to be published only from the late nineties. The reason for such a long journey to the reader is the originality of his poems, in which there is no place for glorifying reality. The poetry of S. Merkulev is characterized by a high degree of freedom and unexpected metaphorical richness. According to O. Sedova, "the author masterfully plays with words" and imbues his lines with "deep philosophical content." This collection contains poems in the recognizable style of the poet, which was previously classified under the avant-garde, but now has found itself in the mainstream movement.
