Teenager at the Psychologist. The Path to Dialogue

The book is addressed to psychologists, teachers, and helping professionals working with teenagers, as well as parents who want to better understand their child. The book will help: — to feel the specifics of psychological work with teenagers, the differences from working with children or adults; — to work with requests that cause the greatest concern for adults: self-harming and suicidal behavior, depressive states and anxiety, eating disorders, body image issues, etc.; — to maintain confidence in working with complex requests, reduce the likelihood of emotional burnout; — to notice psychological distress factors in time, assess risk, and prevent worsening of the situation. The author reveals the organizational issues of counseling teenagers: the algorithm for the initial meeting, features of individual work, and parent-child counseling, establishing contact, formulating requests. The main requests that teenagers address to the psychologist are considered, — more than 15 topics: for each, theoretical information is gathered, directions of psychological assistance are highlighted, examples from practice are provided, and work techniques are outlined.
