Leila, or The Siege of Granada

The beautiful Leila is the daughter of a remarkable person who is considered a great magician. It is no surprise that Leila's father is in the favor of the Moorish ruler, who wishes to maintain his throne and win the war against the Spaniards. If the throne is shaking under the blows of Spanish swords, the advice of the magician, who helps to glimpse into the future, is needed more than ever. However, Leila's father pursues a secret and much more ambitious goal than a court career. For the sake of this goal, he unhesitatingly separates his daughter from her beloved - a Moorish prince, a relative of the ruler. Leila is sent to the Spaniards as a hostage and there becomes the object of the annoying courtship of another prince - the heir to the Spanish throne. If Leila could choose between the two princes, she would choose the Moor, but fate offers her a different choice - a much more difficult and cruel one.
The historical period during which these events unfold is known as the Reconquista - the reclaiming of Spanish lands where the Moors dominated for many centuries. Is it possible for Leila, who finds herself in the epicenter of a historical storm, to at least simply survive?
