The End of the Biography

The investigative police of Moscow and St. Petersburg are known for encountering various criminals: from the pathetic pickpockets of Khitrovka to the cold-blooded murderers. But even the most experienced detective has never faced a case where the main villain is time itself. A young man, Georgy Ratmanov, who has endured the crucible of the Russo-Japanese War and Siberian hard labor, believed he had explored all depths of human depravity. However, upon returning home, he finds himself embroiled in a conspiracy far more frightening than treason. A mysterious gentleman, presenting himself as either a vagabond or an influential official, reveals the truth to him: his biography is not a series of coincidences, but a carefully constructed spectacle. Every action he takes, every meeting he has, is predetermined by forces guarding the flow of time. Ratmanov is offered to join this powerful organization, but he chooses a different path - that of a daring bandit. Yet Georgy does not yet realize that he cannot escape his fate, even through death.
