On a dark winter night in 1741, events took place in Saint Petersburg that would lead to a series of bloody crimes two centuries later.
During the Soviet era, paramedic Andrei Sergeyev and his young wife Oksana unwittingly find themselves drawn into a criminal story and, risking their lives, stand in the way of wrongdoers.
