Native Land

«Native Land» — a novel by Konstantin Sedykh, the author of the famous «Dauria». The book is dedicated to the events of the last years of the Civil War in Transbaikalia: the expulsion of the interventionists, the reunification of the Far Eastern Republic with Russia, and the return of partisans to peaceful life. The frosty winter is still replaced by blooming spring and sultry summer, followed by the cold autumn, but with each passing year it becomes increasingly clear that the old, familiar world has irrevocably disappeared — a new one is born in the fire of battles. In «Native Land», the reader once again encounters the family of the Cossacks Ulybiny. In this book, the writer focuses not on the fate of the older brother, Roman, but on the younger one — Ganka: a teenager who joined the partisan detachment, who was «like a leaf torn from a tree, whirled and carried away in the current of incomprehensible, formidable life».
