Behind the War

October 1943. SMERSH Captain Viktor Krylov heads to Smolensk, recently liberated from the fascists, with the task of identifying and neutralizing the remaining enemy agents. Even on the train, Viktor notices an unusual passenger who introduces himself as engineer Sokolov. He clearly fears the controllers, keeps away from other travelers, and gets off before reaching his station. Upon arriving in the city, Krylov gathers an operational group and develops a plan of action for the near future. Unexpectedly, he encounters Sokolov in the city. There is no trace left of the previous shy engineer: a new hairstyle, an expensive suit, and confident manners... The operative decides to follow this strange individual. Suspicion grows when a checking reveals that “engineer Sokolov” is not registered in the city...
