In a small provincial town live a worker named Yevdokim and his wife Evdokia. Both are hard-working, diligent, and thrifty, but they have no children of their own, so they have taken in adopted ones. Their life may seem at first glance unremarkable, mundane, but in reality, it is full of strong passions, vivid and significant events that make you deeply empathize with the characters.
