Fire. Clarity

"Fire" is a novel that combines the traits of diary prose and a literary work. The horror of World War I, already familiar to readers from the works of Remarque, Hemingway, and Jünger, takes on a different, naturalistically merciless character.
People live and die, while the war goes on. This war – through the eyes of its witnesses, terrifying and senseless. War – a destructive, supernatural force, "and not a bayonet gleaming like silver, not a rooster's song from a horn in the sun!".
The publication also includes the novel "Clarity," telling the fate of an ordinary office worker, Simon Polène. Dully and monotonously, day by day, his life drags on. Simon is little concerned about the events happening around him; his thoughts are focused on one goal – "to make something of himself." But suddenly, Simon's life and that of many young people of his generation changes radically - World War I begins…
