Mikhail Sokolovsky — screenwriter, playwright, writer, holder of many awards and prizes. In March 2022, he left Russia. The collection "Dragon's Skeleton" is the author's first book published outside of it.
The main character of the play "Dragon's Skeleton" recalls how, as a child, he wandered in the vicinity of his native village and hid from the rain in a cave. There, deep inside, he stumbled upon a petrified skeleton of a giant dragon with a huge head and small front legs embedded in the wall. Thus, young Leonardo da Vinci began to ponder nature — its origin, development, and movement — and aspired to the main and unattainable dream: to comprehend the world. Just as dinosaur skeletons in museums consist of fragments, shards, fossils, and reconstructions, this book consists of texts from different years, genres, and themes, united only by the author. The action of the novel "The Glutton's Testament," written more than ten years ago, takes place in Northern Tonga — a fictional country somewhere in Central Europe. The action of the comedy "Mess" also unfolds there, but in 2024. The time and place of the satirical tale "House of Prayer" is Moscow, 2012. The times are still "vegetarian," but Pussy Riot has already received their "two years." "Dragon's Skeleton" is a historical play that concludes the collection.
