The Wonderful Doctor. Stories

The stories and novellas by A.I. Kuprin are small in form, but incredibly rich in content. In the story "The Wonderful Doctor," the author prompts the reader from the very first lines to empathize with the unfortunate family of Mertsalovs. The meeting of the head of the family with the "wonderful doctor" N.I. Pirogov becomes a true Christmas gift for the whole family. In this way, the author asserts that humanity and mercy can perform miracles. In the story "The Elephant," such a miracle is performed by parental love. Parents are willing to do anything to see their Nadya recover, even to bring home an elephant. The strength of spirit and the ability to befriend, in the author's opinion, are not only inherent to humans but also to animals. Zhulka, the heroine of the story "Zhulka and Barbos," is a small shy dog, but she bravely throws herself in front of a rabid dog. And the bully and fighter Barbos felt everything that was happening to his faithful friend and did not leave Zhulka alone in her final hours.
