The Flying Ship. Folk Tales

A fairy tale can teach and entertain, comfort and puzzle, amuse and scare. Fairy tales introduce children to eternal truths and help them grow up, provide examples of behavior, and teach them to believe that good deeds are rewarded, while evil and greed receive their due. Fairy tales are essential for the development of a healthy personality - it's no surprise that they are included in all school reading programs approved by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
Many poets and writers, ethnographers and folklorists have turned to fairy tales as a genre. This collection includes only folk works as adapted by A. N. Tolstoy and A. N. Afanasyev - an ethnographic researcher who carefully gathered and preserved several hundred fairy tales composed by Slavic peoples for future generations.
In the collection "The Flying Ship", we have included 7 diverse, yet equally beloved fairy tales by young readers. Their heroes are the brave Prince Ivan and the reckless fool; the hardworking Vasilisa the Beautiful and the wicked witch; the sweet, kind Little Havroshechka and the cunning Baba Yaga.
Each fairy tale has a happy ending - how could it be otherwise! The world can be harsh, but good always triumphs; we are together, and we are loved.
