Hitman Kaylar Stern steps out of the shadows for one last job and perhaps his final chance at redemption.

After the war that took almost everything from him, Kaylar is broken and alone. He vowed never to kill again, but the approaching amnesty promises freedom for a villain he cannot allow to live. Kaylar promises himself that this will be the last time. The final blow to rid himself of the ties of the past.

But his best - and perhaps only - friend, Supreme King Logan Jayr, asks for help. For the sake of a fragile peace, his new kingdom, and his two twin sons. Logan needs Kaylar to retrieve a powerful magical artifact discovered after the war.

Rumor has it that it is a ka'kari, granting the power of the night angel. This means that old and new enemies are hunting for it. And if Kaylar has learned anything, it is that ancient magic should only be trusted by those who can be believed.
