Among the Decembrists, there were many poets. For some, creativity was a high service to their fellow citizens and the state, a reminder of the lessons of the past and eternal truths. For others, it was a confession, an expression... of deep experiences and thoughts, a comfort in life's twists and turns. The legacy of the Decembrist poets is rich and diverse - it includes not only civic, but also love, landscape, and philosophical lyrics.
The book includes works by Decembrist poets (K. F. Ryleev, V. K. Kuchelbecker, A. I. Odoevsky, and others), as well as poems by A. S. Pushkin dedicated to the Decembrists. Most of these works have not been reissued for over sixty years.
