Figurehead

The petty racketeer Savik accidentally becomes the owner of a secret weapon for covert killings and, using it, makes a dizzying career as a super killer. Major of the special services Fokin, convinced of the ineffectiveness of legal methods to... combat crime, puts into play a material evidence - the African "ring of deferred death", using it to destroy criminal and political gangsters. At the center of events is Max Kardanov, familiar to readers from the novel "Operational Alias", who is used by the special services as a figurehead, but unexpectedly begins to play independently, ultimately outsmarting his masters. He successfully completes special assignments, confronts bandits, searches for diamonds worth a huge sum, and tries to uncover the secret of his real name.
