Haiku — these are magical images reproduced in verbal sketches. The classics of the genre called for naming things in the simplest possible words as if you were saying them for the first time. A unique thematic collection of Japanese haiku poetry has been prepared by the renowned Russian researcher and translator, professor of Japanese literature at the National Research University Higher School of Economics and distinguished professor at Akita International University, Alexander Dolin, who lived and worked for many years in the Land of the Rising Sun.

The book includes masterpieces by the best haiku masters, the greatest poets of the Middle Ages and the Silver Age.
