"Love Letter" – is a dynamic card game of luck, light strategy, and deduction. Your goal is to be the first to deliver a love letter to the princess and win her heart. The mechanics are simple yet engaging: you will use character cards with unique abilities to outsmart your opponents and gather as many tokens of affection from the fair lady as possible.
If it seems to you that you have heard something similar before, you are not mistaken, as you are looking at the updated edition of the cult game! Now you will have the opportunity to meet two new characters, carefully examine the reworked illustrations by Andrew Bosley, and play with an even larger group – up to 6 people! As is well known, the more people there are, the more opportunities for intrigue.
How to play?
At the beginning of the game, each participant receives one card from a shuffled deck, while one card is randomly discarded face down. In case of a two-player game, three additional cards are revealed on the table, creating extra information for analysis. When it's your turn, you perform the following sequence of actions: draw the top card from the deck, thus having two cards in hand, then choose one of them to activate its special ability, while the second card remains with you until your next turn.
Will you risk using the cunning Prince, forcing your opponent to discard their card? Or would you prefer a cautious game with the Handmaid, who will protect you from others' schemes? Or perhaps you will bet everything on the Baron, challenging your opponent to a secret duel? Each option is a balance between risk and calculation, where even the Spy can turn everything upside down at the last moment.
The game continues until the deck runs out or until there is one fearless contender left. The winner of the round receives the coveted token of affection – a step closer to the heart of the Princess.
Who won?
To achieve final victory, a certain number of tokens must be collected: six in a one-on-one duel, five with three participants, four with four, and three if five or six people are competing for the princess's love. If several participants reach the coveted goal at the same time, the last decisive round will determine who truly deserves the hand and heart of the future queen.
