In the provincial Tikhodonsk, a downtrodden unemployed Sergey Lapin leads a miserable existence, worn down by life. Circumstances place him at the center of a clash between powerful financial and criminal groups, and suddenly, through a mental blockage, the consciousness of special agent Max Kardanov from the most powerful and completely unknown intelligence agency begins to break through. His name is associated with the diamonds worth three billion dollars that went missing during the coup of 1991.
