A story about scarves, unsavory secrets, and a gluttonous monster.

There is a house by the canal. It is a very old house in the middle of a wasteland, and it harbors a grim secret. It spreads from one resident to another, awakening their dark sides and forcing them to wear scarves. This secret tried to stay contained, but like any contagion, it found a way out. And now the shadow of this secret is racing through Tremple-Toll amidst thick fog on steam-powered roller skates. It races to tell everything to a certain Nathaniel Francis Doe, a doctor, a convinced misanthrope, and a loving uncle.
