The Color of Envy

The 1980s. The family of Igor Selivanov, the chief engineer of a defense plant, is brutally murdered. The owner and his wife are struck unconscious with a heavy object and finished off with a knife; their eight-year-old son is hit... on the head with a hammer but survives. The case is assigned to prosecutor's investigator Valery Denisov. Together with operatives, he manages to establish that the robbers took nothing valuable from the apartment except... a hunting rifle. The investigators do not rule out that it could become a tool for a new crime in the hands of the bandits. Soon, fears are confirmed: an unknown person uses Selivanov's rifle to kill his younger brother...
