Jane Hall and Styli Lander — forensic anthropologists. Their private agency specializes in forensic analysis of unidentified bodies. Even the smallest detail on a dead body is a clue for them, capable of leading to the discovery of the deceased's identity and the mystery of their death.
In the University of California, a buried body is accidentally discovered. The head of the university's cultural studies department, acquainted with Jane and Styli, calls them for a preliminary examination.
